2 Nature TREC provides a wide range of services related to the outdoor industry. Our goal is to partner with existing programs to help them become better at what they do. We do this through our four pillars – training, research, education, and consulting. A description of our services is below.
Note: 2nd Nature TREC is not a wilderness therapy, eco-therapy, or nature therapy program. We do not do therapy in any context. We are not a wilderness program and do not take clients on extended wilderness expeditions.

 Current Activity2nd Nature TREC will facilitate the second annual Outdoor Leader Training Institute December 13-17, 2026 at the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly in Black Mountain, NC. The OLTI includes 3 trainings and 5 credentials - Registration open now | Current Activity2nd Nature TREC partnered with Waypoint Adventure to enhance its research and evaluation capacity through the refinement of participant outcome measures and assessment tools. | Current Activity2nd Nature TREC conducted research on the cultural and natural history of historic Spencer Mountain in Ranlo, NC for the Catawba Lands Conservancy and the Carolina Thread Trail (CTT). We used this information to develop an interpretive plan for a new section of the Carolina Thread Trail. | Current Activity2nd Nature TREC partnered with Mountain Discovery Charter School to facilitate One School, One Community, a professional development workshop focused on strengthening school culture, deepening relationships, and fostering a shared vision for experiential learning. | Current ActivityFrom February 4-6,2028 the 18th Biennial Coalition for Education in the Outdoors Research Symposium will be hosted by 2nd Nature TREC.
